DPS MUN 2006

So, another event is now officially over for me.. apart from exun that is
Our school has been organising DPS MUN since 2004 and I have participated in it since the same year, though I went for just one day in 2004.
My contribution in MUN has essentially involved providing Tech Support. Along with Dhruv, I have a lot of "masti" at MUN.
This year initially I had decided that I would be part of the conference and not just support staff and was very serious about the simulation and training programme but somewhere along the way lost interest. So anyways, I was USG for Information and Computer Services. Or CIS as Dhruv likes to call it.

We had a total of 7 people for CIS this year-
1. G
2. Dhruv
3. RG - Hes da man
4. Manas G
5. Kartikeya Ashthana
6. Sahil Bajaj
7. Kanika Singh

The first day was rather boring for us, as we got no work. Oh by the way, our work mostly includes typing out the draft resolutions for the delegates and providing any other kind of tech support required. So, the first day was mostly spent playing games on Sid's and RG's laptops. Sid has the PowerBook by the way(its a mac, dont ask). The highlights of the first day were-
1. RG's "mun"walk. Hes da man
2. Nobody recognizing me coz I was wearing a suit with a senior turban as Vibhu calls it. That was fun.
3. Mrs. Chona checking on us in the Business Center. Aashish Manchanda was playing Tribes 2 on RG's laptop when she opened the door to our room(Yes, we even had our own separate room) and Manchanda still did not realise. She saw him playing and commented, "Taking a break, eh". Yes, a break at 11:00 in the morning and the conference had just started at 1030.
4. OO.. and I totally forgot to mention. RG had a killer look. He came in a Black Scorpio(He rides in Style) with black tints, a black suit, completely set hair. and best of all, Black Shades. Total Mafia look.

Day 2 was a little bit better as we had some work to do. But, the delegates have horrible handwriting so it took us a while to understand what they had written in their resolutions. There was one such case where "drug" resembled "dung". Anyways, Our room got even cooler by Day 2. We decided to turn of the lights and I had my supercool JBL iPod speakers. We turned it into a mini theater. And of course, we played. By day 2, I got very good at Carmageddon. We smuggled 2 bottles of coke into our room coz the coke at IHC is too blaady expensive. Not a big deal, but the whole idea was just funny.

Day 3.
Again there wasnt too much work involved coz it was the last day, and most of the committees were trying their best to finish the topics. Dhruv, me and Adarsh had breakfast at All American Diner(AAD). My Chilli Dog was good. Dhruv's Chilli Double Burger was good. Adarsh's Vegetable Hoagie was a waste of money. And then after one hour Adarsh says,"Actually, it was good".
Anyways, Our MUN closing ceremony video didnt play coz well.. it didnt.
The closing ceremony was fine.
Tanya Puri won best delegate. Probably the only one from our school.
In kartikeya's words,"Humare school ka katta ho gayi".
And by the end of MUN kartikeya was just drunk.

MUN was the funnest ever this year specially coz we had fun people in CIS.

Other things at MUN this year include -
1. Dhruv putting a used Duracell battery in a glass of water
2. Ankit Srivastava not knowing where Cuba is. And then we made him believe that Cigar is the official currency of Cube. Basically, he said a lot of stupid stuff. But hes got the spirit to take it as a joke!
3. Our very intellectual conversation about Button Flys(Flies) vs Zippers.
  • Tanya says,"It hurts when things get stuck in it(Zippers)"(Shes obviously experienced the pain)
  • And Vibhu says,"Button Flys result in Ripples".

I cant remember anything else right now

Signing off
G

the ripples can result in embarassment

Dhruv a dit…

Dont know why, but just saying the word Hoagie makes me laugh. Hoagie... Hoagie... Hoagie...
Now, before this button fly vs zipper fly thing gets any further, let me tell you that button flys (or flies) are extremely impractical, particularly when in your in a 'rush'. The advent of the underwear has also drastically reduced the danger of getting something 'caught'(some studies say by upto 37%).
Zippers for ever.

I used that duracell lol.
I forget where the other one went.

The mun walk was sort of forced upon me as was the constant wear of the goggles which were intended to protect me from sunlight and dorkiness.

Guess it worked.

I feel bad bout not bein at earlier muns...

Dhruv a dit…

No, you're wrong. Exec people were not the coolest. They toiled hard, while we played hard. And anyhow, how can any group led by Karan Nagpal call itself cool?
P.S. I believe the word is 'dessert', though I'm not too sure.
Also note in Kartikeya's comment that he was "the phone". Go figure.

ure rite.. i always mess that up.. desert be the sandy place with camels.. haha.. btw i was the phone..? highly debatable that.. exec gets to get reaaally bossy with delegates that suck up to them and they get to bang gavels and do the real work.. but cis is cool too, so lets stop shall we?

[\\Kartikeya//] a dit…

**I was the ONE.
Bloody Typo.

Dhruv a dit…

Ah well, I think the sucking up part is true and the gavels are really cool.
Hmm, debatable. Yeah.

hey give the poor exec. people a break here...

i still managed to sneak in a few games on my laptop which i had got cause G wanted to use it for work. work my ass!
They played sstupertux ( penguin brother of mario) and drank coke all day.....
damn.

The coolest was during lunch on the third day when we went and got lunch from the opposite side of the tables ( no queues suckers!) and then when the others tried to do the same we told them it was for CIS and invitees only.

god damn word verification : nbdoxhsw

hey.. it sounds so fun!! im almost jealous that i wasnt there.. im honestly not even surprised that u guys hardly worked! its really wierd but somehow u manage to be efficient while being inefficient.. its pretty impressive actually..anyway.. im still dissappointed that u werent a delegate.. i was so excited wen i heard that u got delegation at the simulation.. oh well.. as long as u had fun it doesnt really matter! xox

Anonyme a dit…

they actually fell for it??? [the only for invitees and cis part?] hello. we started the-in-sabikas words "anti q"
@dhruv; highly debatable not the phone thing.. the cis coolest thing

Slightly embarassing reading this after 3 years now.
