School Life comes to an end

//I started writing this on 19 December, and then just forgot to complete, so some parts of the post may seem out of context.
Yes
13 years of being a thoroughbred dipsite are coming to an end. The end, which shall be marked by a new beginning.
As the year draws to a close, people(girls..) are mostly seen crying and distributing slam sheets and getting pictures clicked with every pillar and every other random person in school.
I, on the other hand, am very happy about the whole issue. I am glad that school is finally ending.
I owe a lot to my school, the person that I am, is all because of DPS RK Puram. But unfortunately, the last two years at DPS RK Puram have been very depressing and nothing that I would like to remember(excluding the exun bit, which I shall explain later). It is rather sad that I am leaving school on such a note, but such is the life in class 11 and 12.

Exun- Thats probably the best thing that happened to me during my school years. I joined Exun in class 7, with Dhruv and Abhishek. I have perhaps missed about 4000 periods in school as a part of exun and dhruv has missed even more. Exun has been a lot of fun, from missing periods, to eating a lot of food, working on the mac, being in the lab all the time, being walking tech support, making magazines, conducting events, reaching inaccessible areas of the school, staying in school till 10 at night, we've done it all. And last year, Sid joined us(hes probably thanking his stars that we landed up in the same section.. hehe). It was a lot of fun walking around like spies on the lookout for our maths teacher(she was utterly boring last year).

so haha.. i forgot what i was going to write, Dhruvs probably said it all.

Ill just post some pictures of the farewellAkshat and Sidhant share an intimate moment. Adarsh.. well hes just being himself
My favourite english teacher. And sid just cant let go of gadgets can he
DaCoW.
Mr. Mohit Dey, the coolest teacher in school
The Core Group

So yes I am back from Chandigarh. It was fun. For the first time, the train ride was actually what train rides are meant to be. You know like looking out the window, looking at the tree go by and thinking and stuff like that, the way Ruskin Bond has often described them.

And yes, I am in love with an older woman. Her name is Emma Parker Bowles. Shes hot, British and works for TopGear. What more could I ask for? The only problem is that shes 34 years old.

Thats about it for now

Happy New Year

Hello Boys and Girls
A very happy new year to you

I am now the proud owner of the phone you just saw, the sony ericsson k790i. Great Camera 3.2 MP. the pictures in the last post were taken with this wonderful thing.

Anyways
the board date sheet is out.. its pretty cool. The only sad part is that i would be spending my birthday in some examination center writing my maths exam, and i wont be free till the 4th of April. After that, I have entrance examinations every weekend. So basically, the next 5 months are going to be busy for me.

All my applications are on their way to the respective universities and I await the decisions. Hope I get in somewhere.

On an Apple note, the new iPhone has been spotted. Supposedly Apple is going in for a partnership with sony and they plan to release under the cybershot range. Heres a snapshot
The biggest let down, however, was: ITS NOT WHITE!!!!

Anyways Happy new year again

PS: Coming soon....

DPS MUN 2006

So, another event is now officially over for me.. apart from exun that is
Our school has been organising DPS MUN since 2004 and I have participated in it since the same year, though I went for just one day in 2004.
My contribution in MUN has essentially involved providing Tech Support. Along with Dhruv, I have a lot of "masti" at MUN.
This year initially I had decided that I would be part of the conference and not just support staff and was very serious about the simulation and training programme but somewhere along the way lost interest. So anyways, I was USG for Information and Computer Services. Or CIS as Dhruv likes to call it.

We had a total of 7 people for CIS this year-
1. G
2. Dhruv
3. RG - Hes da man
4. Manas G
5. Kartikeya Ashthana
6. Sahil Bajaj
7. Kanika Singh

The first day was rather boring for us, as we got no work. Oh by the way, our work mostly includes typing out the draft resolutions for the delegates and providing any other kind of tech support required. So, the first day was mostly spent playing games on Sid's and RG's laptops. Sid has the PowerBook by the way(its a mac, dont ask). The highlights of the first day were-
1. RG's "mun"walk. Hes da man
2. Nobody recognizing me coz I was wearing a suit with a senior turban as Vibhu calls it. That was fun.
3. Mrs. Chona checking on us in the Business Center. Aashish Manchanda was playing Tribes 2 on RG's laptop when she opened the door to our room(Yes, we even had our own separate room) and Manchanda still did not realise. She saw him playing and commented, "Taking a break, eh". Yes, a break at 11:00 in the morning and the conference had just started at 1030.
4. OO.. and I totally forgot to mention. RG had a killer look. He came in a Black Scorpio(He rides in Style) with black tints, a black suit, completely set hair. and best of all, Black Shades. Total Mafia look.

Day 2 was a little bit better as we had some work to do. But, the delegates have horrible handwriting so it took us a while to understand what they had written in their resolutions. There was one such case where "drug" resembled "dung". Anyways, Our room got even cooler by Day 2. We decided to turn of the lights and I had my supercool JBL iPod speakers. We turned it into a mini theater. And of course, we played. By day 2, I got very good at Carmageddon. We smuggled 2 bottles of coke into our room coz the coke at IHC is too blaady expensive. Not a big deal, but the whole idea was just funny.

Day 3.
Again there wasnt too much work involved coz it was the last day, and most of the committees were trying their best to finish the topics. Dhruv, me and Adarsh had breakfast at All American Diner(AAD). My Chilli Dog was good. Dhruv's Chilli Double Burger was good. Adarsh's Vegetable Hoagie was a waste of money. And then after one hour Adarsh says,"Actually, it was good".
Anyways, Our MUN closing ceremony video didnt play coz well.. it didnt.
The closing ceremony was fine.
Tanya Puri won best delegate. Probably the only one from our school.
In kartikeya's words,"Humare school ka katta ho gayi".
And by the end of MUN kartikeya was just drunk.

MUN was the funnest ever this year specially coz we had fun people in CIS.

Other things at MUN this year include -
1. Dhruv putting a used Duracell battery in a glass of water
2. Ankit Srivastava not knowing where Cuba is. And then we made him believe that Cigar is the official currency of Cube. Basically, he said a lot of stupid stuff. But hes got the spirit to take it as a joke!
3. Our very intellectual conversation about Button Flys(Flies) vs Zippers.
  • Tanya says,"It hurts when things get stuck in it(Zippers)"(Shes obviously experienced the pain)
  • And Vibhu says,"Button Flys result in Ripples".

I cant remember anything else right now

Signing off

The Best Day of My Life

So it was a Sunday yesterday, and it was probably the best day of my life
Most people spend their sundays sleeping and getting up late and probably chill out.
However, For the past one and a half years my Sundays include me getting up early and going to FIITJEE and coming back only 10 hours later, exhausted. And on top of all that, I have to study for the Monday Test as well. Anyways, I am rather glad that phase is over but nevertheless the FIITJEE have scheduled tests every alternate saturday till the end of april.
It's still fine.

So why was it the best day of my life?
Well I saw the Bentley Continental GT. On Road. In New Delhi. And it was White.
It was so cool. It wasnt going at a very high speed but the sound of the engine was so coooooll.. the grunt.

And thats not at all. While I was going back from the FIITJEE test. I saw another very cool car.
This time it was a yellow Lamborghini Gallardo(pronounced Gay-ardo). And cool it was.. The sound of the engine was better this time. But the problem is the guy couldnt go too fast. The car was begging for more.

OK so I have this pair of Tommy Jeans. It's good and its got the vintage look and everything. Theres this one thing I dont like at all. Button Fly.
What is the point of having a Button Fly?. What if someone really has to go, he/she probably will never be able to open those buttons in time hence.
The zippers always good

TCS IT Wiz 2006

The TCS IT Wiz Quiz Competition was held for the first time in Delhi this year. More than 400 teams from schools in and around Delhi participated in the event. Three teams from school had participated, which are equally good but sadly only one team could qualify per school. And as a matter of fact, I have a feeling that only one team from all Delhi Public Schools qualified for the finals.

Let me introduce that team for you
1. Gursartaj Singh Nijjar
2. Dhruv Kumar

And now let me also introduce the winner of the award for the most stupid person on Earth
1. Dhruv Kumar

Dhruv Kumar conveniently decided to go home since the results were taking too much time. And when our team qualified I was left with no other choice but to go on stage alone.

The Quizmaster was Mr. Giri "PickBrain" Subramaniam. He was a fine chap except when it came to cracking jokes.

The preliminary round consisted of 20 questions which were quite simple according to many of the regular quizzers, and we later found out that all the finalists were separated by just 1 point.

Then, it was time for the finals. 6 teams qualified to battle it out on stage-
1. Amity International, Gurgaon
2. Mother's International School
3. Sardar Patel Vidyalaya
4. Amity International, Saket
5. Apeejay, Noida
6. DPS, RKP!!!!!

I will again remind that Dhruv had decided to ditch me. Dhruv is in trouble. Period.

The quiz had 6 rounds, three of them being buzzer rounds.
The first two rounds were a bit of a letdown with our team scoring just 20 points and MIS and Sardar Patel getting way ahead of us. The "Lone Warrior"(thats what the quizmaster decided to call me) was in third position practically throughout the quiz. And well, that was the case almost till the end of the quiz. But a quiz is never over till the last question and thats exactly what happened.

It was the last round, 2 questions left. Tension was thick. Blood Pressure High.
Sardar Patel 70
MIS 50
RKP 35

It was a buzzer round, with each question worth 15 points but it was -10 if you got it wrong
The question is on the screen, the tension is too much. The lone warrior presses the buzzer and answers only to be greeted by a very surprised look on Pickbrain's face almost killing the lone warrior. However, the surprised look was overpowered by the applause of the audience as the lone warrior was right.
MIS 50
RKP 50
So close.

The competition between MIS and RKP now.
The question is again on the screen. The lone warrior doesnt wait for the Pickbrain, presses the buzzer, pauses for a second and answers. The pickbrain tries the trick with the surprised look again. But alas, the lone warrior knows he is right and the audience just goes into fits of overwhelmed applause. The lone warrior has done it. He does it for DPS RKP.
DPS RKP manage second position and the final score was 65, just 5 points behind Sardar Patel and thus missing the national finals at Mumbai.

But wait, it wasnt over yet. The Pickbrain and everyone from TCS are just flabbergasted and they have no words for the Lone Warrior.
The Lone Warrior is declared as the "Gladiator of IT Quizzing of Delhi".. *takes a bow*

Plus, I will be flying to Mumbai to witness the Finals and probably have dinner with the CEO of TCS, Mr. Ramodorai(I dont know the spelling)

And I forgot about the prizes.
We received
1. iPod Nano 2 GB
2. Tata Indicom Mobile Connection
3. A Titan Fastrack Watch
4. And lots of other Goodiess..

I hope next year, our team qualifies and both the participants are present on stage and they win the regional finals and then win the National Finals as well.

Till then

Quote Unquote

Hello
This is something i found funny.

Early morning during homeroom, children were made to stand as they did not have ties.
There was this one guy in particular who did not have a tie and the whiteness of his shirt was opposite to the whiteness of his trousers.

Mr. Mohit Dey: Varun Vasudevan, ghar mein tide hai?
Varun Vasudevan: Sir, tie?
MD: Tide.
VV: Tie?
MD: abey T-I-D-E!
VV: achhhaaa.. haan sir hai.
MD: toh phir kapde dho le na.. nahin toh yellow ho jayenge.

2. Due to the protests against the sealings, theres a lot going on in Delhi. I was going around telling people that whole of Delhi is on fire.

Gursartaj: Delhi is on fire.
Adarsh Ramakrishnan: I didnt do it

Anniversary

Hello friends.
It has been a long time since I posted something textual.
Anyways
It has been a year for our french trip.
Everything is still fresh in my brain as I think about it.
365 days ago, at this very moment, we were loitering in Angouleme shouting and screaming and singing and racing through the streets. Siddharth managed to screw up my camera but it was ok. The day we went for the concert and had to sit outside because the music was horrible. The day I saved abhinaya from Thibault. The day my temporary bronchitis started off after taking in too much smoke. The day we went bowling. The day we also played video games in which I clearly beat Siddharth. The day I consumed a good quantity of Pate.

The day shall not be forgotten, at least for now
